One of my favorite patriotic songs is "God Bless America." But is she still blessable? The evidence of a country once united under God is fast disappearing from the landscape, both politically and literally. As the evidence diminishes so does our unity. What is one distinctive symptom of this spiritual disease spreading across our nation? Tolerance. Discover how the parable of the Prodigal Son illustrates how a twisted definition of tolerance is destroying our national blessing.

This is almost embarrassing to say out loud...the United States, a great proponent of finding and using renewable energy sources, shows statistically as getting less than 1% of the energy needs met through the use of solar power. While the United States actually has good solar potential, or radiation, throughout the majority of its geographic area, coal, gas and oil have been considered more cost-efficient and reliable in the past, and therefore more widely used. What hasn't been taken into account in the past is their cost in terms of environmental pollution and expenditure of non-renewable resources at an alarming rate.

As prices rise, interest in energy efficient homes, appliances and electronics continues to grow. This month we'll take a look at some energy savings to be found in some unlikely places. You may be surprised to learn that many devices in your home – called energy vampires – draw energy even when turned off. And with interest rates trending upwards, we'll consider whether it's still a good idea to tap the equity you've built up in your home.

The entire British nation was said to be in a state of shock this morning in the wake of last night's leaked report from the police investigation into the affairs of MPs, which revealed that an MP may not be guilty of anything. A "close friend" of the Metropolitan Police told this reporter they are treating very seriously evidence that suggests a British MP may have colluded in a plot to destabilize the Parliamentary system by not fiddling his expenses.

A new medical study has provided more good news about booze. There is an ingredient in red wine that apparently really does prolong life, at least, the life of mice. How do we know? In a recent study, mice that were fed all kinds of artery-clogging foods and fattened up were given huge doses of the elixir, while other mice were just fattened up. Despite being obese, the cardiovascular systems of the lucky mice on the regimen remained healthy – so healthy the researchers, at no less than the Harvard Medical School, rushed to publish their findings even before the study was complete.

Great news landlords and investors... because of the current crisis in the real estate market, an increase in foreclosures, and a tightening of lending standards an increasing number of Americans are choosing to rent. With vacancy rates of rental properties at all time lows, asking rental rates at a near all time high, and an increase in apartment demand, it may be just the right time for rental property investment.
